I am thankful that our God is a God of second chances. Like most people, I have alot of wrongs in my past, present and future. A second chance is something I don't deserve, but I am thankful to receive. With a second chance, I can right my wrongs. At the moment, I am trying to right a self-inflicted wrong from 16 years ago.
Sixteen years ago I was a college sophomore who had no clue how the world worked. I was not yet a Christ-follower...proud, arrogant and ignorant. At that time I believed I was smarter than most and would have no problem making a career for myself. I had owned a couple of fledgling businesses and was sure I was destined for success. With that attitude, I rationalized that I didn't need to finish college. So I dropped my classes and started a career in sales.
Fast forward to today. I've never needed my college degree, but I've often wished I had finished. I have grown to detest things being unfinished. So, when I realized earlier this year that our move to Colorado to plant a church wasn't going to happen in the time I anticipated, I decided (with my wife's encouragement) to right a wrong. I enrolled at Universtiy of Phoenix, taking online classes, to complete a B.S. in Business with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. After transfers, I am 52 hours into a 120 hour degree plan so there's alot of work yet to do. But I am thankful for the opportunity to do it, to right this wrong.
Second chances are priceless. We don't always get them. I am glad I get to go back to schoool. But I am even happier that God gave me a second chance to right the wrong decision I made many years ago about Jesus. More on that next time.
