Why Plant A Church?

As we prepare to go and plant Elevation Church of Colorado several people have asked me questions like "aren't there enough churches already?" And, honestly, I was asking God the samething myself not too terribly long ago...like right after I started feeling called to go do this!  As we prayed and researched we found some interesting points about planting. Planting new churches has been fundamental to the faith ever since Jesus said of Simon Peter, "on this rock I will build my church." It is still part of the plan God has for reaching people with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. Planting brings new life into the community, it challenges Christians to step out in faith and challenges those who are far from God to investigate his claims.

For you stats people, check out these bullet points:

  • The unchurched population in the U.S. increased 93% in the past 10 years
  • Church attendance is down 36 million people in 15 years
  • 4000 churches a year close their doors
  • Only 2500 new churches open each year
  • Most of the 10 fastest growing churches today are under 5 years old
So here we go...praying and preparing for planting Elevation Church!

Prayer Requests:
1. Part of the reason we have not left for Colorado yet is employment.  We need a source of income to support our family in CO as we build the church.  Please pray with us for God to provide the means to make the move.  We are confident of his provision.
2. Health.  Trena is pregnant and we have 2 young kids in public school.  It's flu season.  You do the math...high risk of sickness!  So far we have been blessed with good health this season.  Please join us in prayer that this continues.
