Another School Shooting in Littleton, CO

You may have heard that yesterday, Tuesday Feb. 23, there was another shooting in Littleton, CO.  This one was at a middle school just 2-3 miles away from Columbine High School where a tragic school shooting incident occurred 11 years ago.  Sadly, 2 students were injured before a teacher heroically tackled the gunman.  One has been released and the other was still hospitalized last I heard.

Littleton is about 15-20 minutes away from Castle Rock, where we plan to plant a church later this year.  One of the reasons we've chosen this area is to bring the life-changing message of Jesus to a large and fast-growing community in a way that is new, innovative and compelling.  Our hope is to reach the whole community, including people who may not respond to the traditional church's methods.

I look forward to getting to Colorado and getting involved in the community, truly making it our home.  I look forward to embracing the culture and the people.  And I look forward to being used by God to bring his message of love, grace, mercy and redemption through creative approaches to worship, preaching and living.

Our prayers are with the families who have been affected by this recent violent act.  We pray for healing for the students as well as the community.  And we pray that mercy and grace would supercede anger and revenge as the predominant response.
