Getting Nostalgic

As we draw closer to leaving Dallas/Ft. Worth I find myself getting very nostalgic.  I am beginning to appreciate more the things I love about this area.  I think about the great Tex Mex we're leaving, and I am trying to hit all my faves before we go.  I think about the great sports teams I've loved since I was a child...the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, and more recently the Stars. I think about all the fun activities we have here...Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, minor league baseball in several cities,  and so on.  And of course there are the people...our closest friends and our families are here.  We are spending as much time with everyone as we can, knowing it will be harder when we are 800 miles apart.

These people and things have been part of our daily lives for 30+ years.  They have been constants and, in many ways, we have taken them for granted.  No more.  Now we know things will be changing and these constants will be enjoyed more through memories than actual experiences.

We know there will be new favorite foods and restaurants.  There will be new sports teams to watch and activities to participate in.  Our friends and family will never be replaced, but we will have to redefine our relationships and we will forge new friendships in Colorado.  As we live in the moment here, drinking up every experience, every conversation, every meal, we also look forward to all the new experiences and new raltionships God is prepaing for us with anticipation and excitement!
