Two is better than one

When we began Elevation Church with a small group format instead of a preaching/teaching approach we knew we were going outside the box.  We knew it would take longer to grow and see large numbers in attendance.  But we believed we would grow stronger by taking the time and effort to get to know one another on a more personal level through small group interaction.  Size is not the primary goal of Elevation Church.  Discipleship is.  And discipleship almost always requires a relationship.  Relationships take time.  So we are committed to building relationships in spite of the time and energy required to do so.  As we do, our size and reach will increase as the church (the people) begin to carry out the Great Commission in which Jesus said, "go make disciples."  And so we are.

We decided the best way to start the disciple-making process is to put into practice the 'one another' statements of the New Testament.  We are in a 7 week series of discussions focusing on these key  principles of Scripture.  Collectively the 'one anothers' are the blueprint for the New Testament church. They are the perfect place to start as we seek to be the church Jesus charged us with being.

In our first week we discussed Paul's instruction in Romans to practice hospitality.  This past Sunday we took a closer look at the most common one another statement - encourage one another.  This Sunday we will open the book of James and see what it says regarding praying for one another.

This is sure to be another eye-opening time of inspection, discussion, and personal growth.  I hope you will join us 4:30 6:00 pm. Email me at pastortoddzilla@gmail.com for more info like our address or directions.
