The Least of These

I am really excited about tomorrow morning.  Tomorrow I get to finally take roughly 30 pounds of ground venison to Beautiful Feet Ministries in Fort Worth.  This is so exciting for several reasons.  The obvious one is that it is so much fun to give to others, to be used by God to bless someone else. That feels good...I admit it, there is a selfish motivation.  Secondarily I am excited because I have been joined in this effort by some good friends - Steve and Kim Drechsler who allowed me to hunt the deer that provided the meat and Gavin Twigger who helped me process the meat and will help me deliver it tomorrow.  Perhaps the most exciting part is seeing Elevation Church already actively participating in missional works.  We are all of 3 1/2 weeks old with an average attendance of 11 people!  But when God was placing the vision for this church in my heart it was clear that missions were a core value He wants us to practice. Now we are doing it!

As I write this I envision Jesus as recorded in Matthew 25:37-40 where he says, "'I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"

And that is why I am excited...Elevation Church, even in our infancy, is doing the work of Jesus.  We are being the church!
